Youth Awards
The Youth Awards Committee is seeking nominees for the 2008 Youth Leadership Awards. The conference targets young students in two grade ranges: 6th to 8th and 9th to 12th. Two recipients from each grade range will receive a cash award in recognition of his/her scholastic achievements, leadership and community service. The recipients will receive their awards at the conference. Click here to download a copy of the Youth Award Application. Applications are due Friday, March 14, 2008.
Eligibility
- Must be Chicano/a, Mexicano/a, and Latino/a grades 6-12.
- Must be enrolled and in good standing in a public, private or alternative school.
- Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
- Must be involved in school activities and activities in the community.
Essay Questions
Limit your answers to no more than a full sheet per question and attach to application. Please be sure to write clearly.
- Describe your involvement in school activities and activities in your community. Address each point below.
- How did you get started doing these activities?
- Describe your role and why are you involved.
- How long have you been involved in these activities?
- What do you gain from participating in these activities?
- How does the community benefit from your involvement in these activities? - How have you been a leader in your school or local community? Please describe in detail.
- If you were to create a theme for our leadership conference, what would it be, and why?
